President's Corner
Well, we had a GREAT Member/Member tournament in May. Great Job to Terry and the ElDorado Staff for making the event run very smoothly. Next up is our Club Championship!
The Club Championship tournament will be held on 6/15, 6/22, and 6/23, with a separate cost of $100 to be placed in the men’s club drawer with their entry form. Each participant has to sign up for the June home tournament on 6/15 and pay the normal entry fee of $55 to Terry. Like always, the more participation this tournament gets, the better the competition! I’m assuming we’ll have enough players for Gross, A & B Net flights. If you have any questions about the Club Championship, please contact me directly.
The bar & restaurant renovations are pretty much complete. If you haven’t stopped by the club lately, stop by for a quick look. As always, your Board of Directors is open to suggestions on ways to make the club better. If you have a great idea, please let us know.

Meeting Minutes
MAY 2013 MEETING MINUTES
The monthly meeting of the El Dorado Park Men’s Golf Club was held on Tuesday, May 14, 2013, in the Big White Tent. The pre-dinner meal included roast beef, roasted potatoes and vegetables, pasta, salad and dessert. Many of these items looked a lot like the Mother’s Day buffet from two days earlier.
The meeting was called to order at 7:00pm by President Tom Retterath, who led the Pledge of Allegiance. There were approximately 80 members in attendance, including Past Presidents Rich Dennison, Steve Shure, Mike Montgomery, Jerry Leininger, Don Marmion, Dennis Tramer, Richard Scoville and (Life Member) Bob Livingstone.
The previous month’s Minutes and Treasurer’s Report were approved.
New Members: Marc Lilliberg, the new Course Superintendent, introduced himself. Both Marc and his trusty dog Calloway accepted accolades from much of the membership relative to the condition of the course lately. Good job, Marc and Calloway.
Bob Livingstone noted to the membership that while SCGA dues increased for this year by $3, the Club “ate” that increase for 2013. However, for 2014, we would like to increase our membership dues by $2, plus the SCGA increase of $3, resulting in total annual dues (El Do and SCGA) of $105 (if renewed by the early renewal deadline of October 15) or $125 (for late renewals and new members). It was moved, seconded, and approved to do so.
President Retterath noted that the Club Championship, a 3 day event, starts at the regular June Tournament (Blind Draw) on June 15, and continues on June 22 & 23.
Committee Reports were as follow:
Jerry Leininger: Check the SCGA Website for information about the many tournaments available for all members. The Member-Member this month will be played using your L.I. Remember to post your scores yourself – Saturday is “Regular” (from the Blue Tees) and Sunday is “Tournament” (from the White Tees).
Nick Zamora: April GOM winners were Ryan Boyker (Gross 70) and Greg Englant (Net 67). The 9 Hole pre-meeting Tournament had 17 players, and was won by Pete Douglas (with a 29!!). Nick noted that while at Soboba for our monthly away tournament, Jim Fuchs collected more golf balls than Titleist sells in a month.
Mike Montgomery: Raffle ticket sales for the Long Beach Open will start next month.
Cliff Aichele: Special Events at the Member-Member this month will be: Saturday – CTP on #3, Skins, and “Down the Stretch” – net par or better on #15-16-17-18; Sunday: CTP on #17, Skins and “North of Willow” – net par or better on #4-5-6-7. Don’t forget to get your winnings out of the box.
Dennis Tramer: Soboba had a very light turnout (30 players) compared to other away events, so we’ll probably not return next year – it’s just too long of a trip. Our next away tournament is July 27 at Rio Hondo.
Mike Vaughn: We won the Quad Club Championship!! Our 17 point victory was one of the largest ever. We may get to keep the trophy in perpetuity, as this may have been the last Quad Club event. Winner of the Putting Contest was Greg Englant.
Terry Fulford: Last month’s pace of play was very good – no penalties were assessed for slow play. The Member-Member is this month: Partner’s Best Ball on Saturday, and Aggregate (Count “Em All) on Sunday. Remember to post your own scores. Next month (June 15) is a Partner Blind Draw – the computer will randomly assign partners.
El Do General Manager Rick Crowder thanked Marc Lilleberg for getting the course in good shape – He noted that the refurbished restaurant was now open, and that 60” big screen TVs have been ordered for the bar area.
There was no Old Business. Under New Business, it was noted that Todd Thiele was running a “game of chance” relative to the Member-Member Tournament.
Winner of the $50 drawing was Kerry Bryan. Names called but not present included Dave Hasselman.
The meeting was adjourned at 7:45 pm.

Director Report
Our 3rd Putting contest for 2013 in May was a count ‘em all. The saying “third time the charm” did not apply to that event as only five (5) members participated. Had 2nd place been paid 80% of the players would have cashed. Greg Englant pulled off the win with a 2-under 16. Mark your calendar to be at the course meeting night Tuesday the 11th to take your shot at claiming top prize. The contest will be under way by 5:30 on the south green.
Looking forward to seeing you there,
Mike Vaughn
Director Report 2
Hello Gentlemen,
I have a couple reminders for you this month. We have "Golfer of the Month". For those of you who are new or the guys who just can't remember, I will explain "GOM."
This is an event that we do every month all year long. If you play at El Dorado, anytime, any day(our home tournaments included), and shoot a good round, you can submit a scorecard and the lowest net and the lowest gross can be the GOM.
You need to submit a separate scorecard and it must have the following information on it: The date you played, which tees you played from, your GHIN #, and the score hole by hole. You must put on the card that it is for golfer of the month and your name(very important). The card must also have a members signature on it too to be official. The winning members will receive a plaque and their name in lights and be eligible to play in the Golfer of the Year. Any questions you can talk to me and I can explain this all over again.
The other event we do in the summer is the "9 hole." This is a tournament we run on the second Tuesday of every month( general meeting night). I will have an envelope at the starters desk. It will say if we play from the blue or white tees. Put $5 entry fee in the envelope and the scorecard when you finish. You use 1/2 your current index for 9 holes to determine the lowest net score. I will pay 3 spots depending on how many people enter. This is a great way to warm up for the meeting. You must play with at least one member to be eligible. I hope this gives you a little insight on some of the many events this club does all year. So get involved and come out and play.
