President's Corner
Welcome to 2013! This year has so many possibilities and opportunities and it is in all of our hands to make it a great one! As a Board we will continue to improve and build on our relationship with the EL Dorado Management Staff, our tournaments, both home and away, and our general meetings. I know that I have full commitment from my Board of Directors to make this happen. We also need to add to our membership so I look to you to help with this effort. Please mention to your friends about joining the Men's Club!
We have 2 tournaments planned for January. We have an away trip to Links at Summerly and we have our Scramble tournament. Please contact Dennis Tramer (Entertainment Chairman) for the away trip and Terry Fulford for our home tournament.
Also, both Thursday & Saturday Team Play matches start this month. Best of luck to both of our Teams.
I'd like to welcome one new member to the Board - Mike Moraitis. I look forward to working with the entire Board to ensure that all of our club activities continue to be best that we can do. And lastly, I would like to wish everyone a Happy New Year! May 2013 bring health and happiness to all of you!
Tom Retterath
President
Meeting Minutes
The monthly meeting of the El Dorado Park Men's Golf Club was held on Tuesday, December 11, 2012, in the Big White Tent. The pre-meeting dinner included ham, turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, gravy, salad and dessert-a real Christmas feast.
The meeting was called to order at 7:05 pm by President Tom Retterath, who led the Pledge of Allegiance. There were approximately 110 members in attendance, including Past Presidents Rich Dennison, Mike Montgomery, Jerry Leininger, Greg O'Brien, Don Marmion, Dennis Tramer, Tom Conlisk, Dick Scoville and (Life Member) Bob Livingstone.
President Retterath called for a moment of silence in honor of two long-time members who recently passed away -Tom Burris and Wayne Setinek.
The previous month's meeting minutes and Treasurer's Report were approved. New members Joel Kokis, John Lang and Jeff Tanner introduced themselves, and were then given the "New Member" Tour by past President Tramer.
Director reports were as follow:
Jerry Leininger: Don't forget to post your scores. Since the December Tournament is a Shotgun, the Board will post those scores.
Bob Livingstone: El Do was well represented in the recent SCGA Tournament of Champions. Larry Grant finished third in the Senior Division. Mike Marmer and Dennis Tramer also competed. The good news: Dennis didn't hurt himself.
Nick Zamora: Golfers of the Month for November were Dennis Tramer (Net 65), and Noah Bush (Gross 69). Saturday Team Play tryouts have ended, and Nick and Co-Captain Mike Marmer are finalizing the team. The Saturday Team will play the Thursday Team on January 5th as a tune-up. Tom Conlisk questioned why it took so long for Golfers of the Month to receive their plaques. Nick promised to remedy the situation.
Tom Retterath: The first Away Tournament of 2013 will be at Summerly in Lake Elsinore, a beautiful links-style course, on January 27th. It's an 8:00 start, and green fees are $67, including cart. Schedules for 2013 will be available at the tournament on Saturday, December 15th and in the Golf Shop all year.
Cliff Aichele: Special Events for the December Tournament include "Net 71 or Better", Skins and Closest-to-the-Pin on all Par 3's.
Mike Vaughn: Flights Championships are now completed. It was a great year for competition. Winners of the four brackets include Ryan Boyker, Wayne McGhee, Pat O'Hara and Rubin Gonzales. Finalists and semi-finalists all received "winnings". Quad Club will be held April 27th, with El Do hosting this year. More to follow.
Terry Fulford: Monster Day (November Tournament) was well received by most who played. The December Shotgun Tournament will feature 2 Best Balls (of the 3 Man Teams). The January Tournament is scheduled for Sunday, January 13th.
There was no Old or New Business. President Retterath introduced the Executive Board for 2013.
Monthly drawing winners were:
The "$50 Must Be Here To Win" pot went to Dennis Tramer.
The "$50 Keep Drawing 'til We Have A Winner" went to Frank Pecora.
The meeting was adjourned at 7:45, at which time the Annual December Raffle was held.

Director Report
2012 seemed to be over as fast as it started. I want to thank the members that joined our team for Quad Club, competed in the Flight championships, and rolled their luck in the before meeting Putting Contest. Looking at the schedule it is noticed that Dennis has scheduled some new away trip courses, and we are host facility for the Quad Club. This will be a good year.
Trophies and other awards were presented at the December meeting. The winners received a crystal trophy plus 200 bones. The runner-ups pocketed 120, and the longest lasting 'also ran' each took 50. The Winner, Runner-up, and also-rans of each Flight were as follows, respectively. President: Ryan Boyker, Mike Marmer, Larry Grant and Noah Busch. Vice President: Wayne McGhee, Tom Retterath, George Manyak and Ron McBride. Secretary: Pat O'Hara, Mike Moraitis, Colin Boylan and David Pemberton. Treasurer: Ruben Gonzales, Steve Cook, Mike V. Callahan and Ron Lamerton.
The 2013 Quad Club will be held at El Dorado Park Golf Course, Saturday, April 27. Recruitment of the best 40 players we have for this match play competition is underway. The Sign-up sheet will be posted on the bulletin board for you to place your name. All players who win 3-points for the team have a roster spot guaranteed for the 2014 Quad Club at Skylinks.
Once Daylight Saving Time returns the Putting Tournament will be held on the south green. This is always a good game with a format variation from the month to month. It will run from 5:15 and 6:45. One change will be in the payout structure. Payout will only reward players for their best score, nothing in multiples. Be sure to get to El Dorado early those nights to take your chances at rolling in the best score.
The first matches of this year's Flight championships can be played starting August 1 with all matches complete NLT August 31, with each round being playable between the first and last day of the respective month. Handicap used for each match will be your active LI. Rules of Competition for this event will be posted on the bulletin board as well as on our website before any play commences so everyone has the same access to this information. Entry will be the standard $20 per player. However it must be pre-paid before you will be placed on a roster. This is due to the completed brackets must be made available to all players NLT July 31. If your money has not been received by July 20 don't come crying to me when you don't find your name on the bracket.
If ever there is a time you would like to discuss a Club issue I am available.
Keep the ball in the short grass,
Mike Vaughn
