Code of Conduct PolicyGolf is a gentlemen’s game and should be played accordingly. This policy will apply to all Club events, including monthly home and away tournaments, Club Championship(s), Flights, nine-hole competitions, SCGA Team Play matches and the Quad Club.
By accepting membership in the Club, members acknowledge that we are guests at all of the courses we play, and that their participation in Club events is at the direction of the Board of Directors and its application and interpretations of this Code of Conduct Policy.
A violation of this Policy must be observed and reported by at least two members of the Board or by any two members of the Club who report such violation to the Board.
For a first violation of this policy, a member shall receive a written warning letter identifying the action and reviewing this Policy. If there is a second violation of this policy within the following 12 months, the member shall be suspended for 60 days from the date of the second violation. A first violation may not be appealed, but a second violation may be appealed to the Board, which may erase either or both violations and connected suspension by a 3/4 vote of the entire Board.
If a third violation occurs after a suspension has been served, and during the same 12 month period since the first violation, the Board shall decide whether the member shall be suspended for an additional 60 days (by a majority vote of those Board members present) or shall have his membership in the Club rejected for the remainder of the year in question (3/4 vote of the entire Board). In the event of rejection of a membership, the member may again apply for membership in the Club in a subsequent year, subject to the membership voting requirements in the Club’s By-Laws.
All warnings and violations shall be “washed clean” after 12 months from the date of the original warning or the completed suspension.
The following actions, which are not an exhaustive list, shall be considered a violation of the Club’s Conduct Policy:
• Potential endangerment of others
• Willful damage to the golf course, or golf course or Club property
• Club throwing or unnecessary club tossing
• Repetitive/audible offensive or unbecoming language
• Public criticism or verbal abuse of Club officials, course staff or other members
• Conduct deemed unbecoming or inappropriate to the game of golf
Unless otherwise listed, the interpretation of this Policy is up to a majority vote of the Club’s Board of Directors, which shall be guided by the game’s historical integrity and history of sportsmanship.
